Crack Australasian mare Verry Elleegant (NZ) (Zed {NZ}) will return to the racetrack at the end of the Arc test weekend at G1 Prix Vermeille or G2 Prix Foy on September 11, coach Francis-Henri Graffard revealed. Dark Bay was the last of seven in her first Northern Hemisphere run, the G1 Prix Jean Romanet, earlier this month. Depending on how the 11-time Group 1 winner performs in September in those 1/2 mile races will determine if she steps out of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on October 2. are not.
“She’s come up a lot from the race,” Graffard said. “She will run next weekend at Longchamp, at the Prix Vermeille or the Prix Foy. She’s going to play a lot, she’ll be better off with two more outerwear and on softer ground.”
Originally announced as her reason for traveling to the Northern Hemisphere, the Arc is currently not among Verry Elleegant’s entries. If connections opt into the ParisLongchamp show, she will need to be replenished on September 28.
The coach added, “We’ll run next weekend and then we’ll see what to do.”
