Vampire Survivors will launch version 1.0 on October 20. Developer poncle announced today’s planned release date, but didn’t say what new features the full release will have to add. Its still a surprise.
While reaching 1.0 means giving up early access, it’s not the end of the Vampire Survivors’ growth either. Work on porting the game to a new engine continues with the aim of “releasing it by the end of the year.”
The news posted on Vampire Survivors Steam page said that, since patch 0.11.3 fulfilled the promises made in the most recently released development roadmap, they did not feel the need to say what would happen in 1.0. The content should therefore be a “surprise and hopefully provide a little something for everyone.”
They say the update will include tweaks to balance items, nerfs for Santa Water/La Borra, and two new achievements. Version 1.0 will also include official support for new languages, including French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Korean and Japanese.
As you reach high levels, Vampire Survivors can be slow to crawl due to how many sprites appear on screen at once. For that reason – and as a result of the great success of the game – poncle announced intention to switch to a new engine back in March.
Work on that motor switch continues. Today’s post says that the new engine will fix common bugs, enable multi-core processor support and improve frame rates, and bring native Linux support. Saving data will be carried over to the new engine, although the post also states that the motor switch is optional. “If you’re happy with your current version of Electron, no one will force you to switch to the new version :),” the post said.
More information about 1.0 will be rolled out daily from October 7 through its release on the 20th, providing “sometimes just a small detail, sometimes something a little bigger.” We will report on any important news, because Vampire Survivors are awesome.
