More specifically, Valve plans to send emails to lucky pre-bookers starting February 25. From there, customers will have 72 hours to respond and confirm their purchase. If that goes well, a shiny new Steam Deck will be shipped to its new home starting February 28. Steam decks are held for those who haven’t completed their purchase in approx. That three-day period will be available for subsequent bookings. Valve has made it clear that the model you pre-order is locked to the one you will have a chance to purchase. There will be no way to convert when a confirmation email is received.
Make sure to keep an eye on your inbox if you think you’ll be eligible to purchase a near-launch device. Valve says it plans to “release new batches of order emails on a weekly basis.”
