According to the GRP Agra department, the unidentified railway employee was involved in the maintenance of the tracks where the accident occurred and may have been negligent to forget the crowbar.
The victim was identified as harikesh Kumar Dubey (34) of Sultanpur district. He was sitting by the window on berth 15 of the general carriage, which was second from the locomotive of the train.
According to railway officials, the train was traveling at 130 km/h and the first stop after leaving Anand Vihar station was Aligarh junction, about 30 km from where the accident happened inside the carriage.
After the incident, panicked passengers left the area and alerted railway officials when the train stopped at the Aligarh junction at 9:23 am.
“The unfortunate incident happened around 8:45 am between Danwar and Somna train stations. In the accident, another female passenger Gyatri Devi The person sitting next to the victim Harikesh also had bruises around his neck,” this person said. Subodh Yadavstation staff of the Aligarh GRP junction railway station told TOI.
“The impact of the crowbar was so strong that it could have killed another passenger sitting behind the dead victim, as the crowbar had penetrated the nearly one-foot-deep wooden wall separating the berths,” he said.
While speaking to TOI, Vinay Saroj, the injured Gyatri Devi’s son, who witnessed Hairkesh’s tragic death, said: “The passenger was sitting quietly with the glass door closed and suddenly from somewhere an iron went through the window and killed him. That moment can’t be told otherwise. We just don’t know exactly how an iron is made into a coach.”
Towards Pratapgarh to attend the wedding, Vinay said: “The train was running at high speed when the iron bar ran over the passenger sitting next to us. The broken window glass left a deep wound on my mother’s neck, but now she was fine.”
The father of two children, boy (4) and girl (7), deceased victim Harikesh Kumar Dubey is coming to Lucknow to attend his sister’s wedding. Harikesh is the youngest of eight siblings (four sisters and four brothers).
“My brother is a phone tower technician, but even after losing his job, he still lives with his wife Shalini Dubey and two children in New Delhi’s Sonia Vihar. He came to Lucknow to attend our sister’s “neyuta” (wedding ceremony)” said Babita Tripathi Harikesh’s brother while talking to TOI.
SSP Agra GRP Parts, Mohamad Mushtaq “We have input, that railway staff are maintaining the tracks near the accident site. We will send the FIR once the victim’s family members arrive and share the complaint,” said the statement.
While talking to TOI, public relations director of North Central Railway (NCR), Himanshu Upadhay said, “A joint investigation into GRP and RPF is underway and it is too early to determine exactly how an iron bar went through the window and killed the passenger. But yes, there is a team that does. maintenance of the tracks on the opposite side, but none of the fellow passengers could tell exactly where the incident occurred.”
“Any help will probably go to the victim’s family. He’s traveling with a valid ticket so he will also be compensated,” he said.
