Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said his government aims to turn the western and central regions of the state into a hub for the auto and electric vehicle industry and its supporting parts. The government aims to grow the state’s economy to $1 trillion and also export electric vehicles from here abroad.
Yogi instructed officials that the auto and electric vehicle industries in western and central UP had plenty of resources; they just need to be pushed further as the demand for electric vehicles in the auto industry is expanding rapidly. This will also lead to an increase in the means of employment on a large scale.

In the auto industry, UP’s Growth State Value Added (GSVA) is $1.5 billion in 2019, this figure could grow to $5 billion in the next five years, according to a report. Yogi government is willing to spend $19-20 billion to develop this industry using 9000-10,000 acres of land.
Spare parts for electric vehicles produced here will be supplied to the UK, US, Australia and South Asia. During the meeting, the Minister stated that both large industries and MSMEs play an important role in the automotive industry and are well established in sufficient numbers in western and central UP.
To encourage the auto industry, CM chose locations like Agra, Shahjahanpur, Aligarh, Prayagraj, Saharanpur and Etawah to promote the MSME sector, while Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Hapur, Kanpur Nagar and Meerut to build great business.
The minister also stated that Central Uttar Pradesh is very suitable for the metal industry which is most important for the auto industry as well as other industries related to it.
