Usyk vs AJ: Uncut footage shows moments before Anthony Joshua’s emotional speech | Boxing News
New uncut footage shows what sparked Anthony Joshua’s emotional reaction to his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
After the results of Saturday’s world heavyweight title rematch were announced, Joshua was initially pictured calmly shaking hands and chatting with Usyk’s fit manager, Egis Klimass.
He continued to exchange words with former Ukrainian three-weight world champion Vasyl Lomachenko, seen in a black bucket hat, before touching two members of Team Usyk and shrugging another. , wearing a black T-shirt, when he tapped Joshua on the shoulder seemed to open him up along.
From there, Joshua took two of Usyk’s belts from head coach Yurii Ivanovich Tkachenko, who was apparently going to hand them over to the champion, before walking over to the other side of the ring and tossing them to the ground.
Upon his return, the British boxer appeared to square off against Tkachenko, who made the comment to incite a heated exchange when Joshua’s teammates held him back.
Joshua was then seen walking out of the ring and tossing his towel in frustration before acting furiously in response to a comment from someone who wasn’t on hand.
He eventually turned and headed back to the ring, where he shook Usyk’s hand while congratulating him again, before searching for the microphone before giving his post-match speech.
“I feel nothing but respect for Anthony Joshua,” Usyk said afterwards. “I found him a bit emotional and bullied some of my teammates.
“But I wouldn’t advise him to go empty-handed with them because they are terrible street fighters.
“I have 20 games and 20 wins at the moment, some of my guys have 25 [wins] and 25 by knockout. “
Joshua: I let my emotions get better in me after Usyk died
Joshua has vowed to “be better” after admitting he lost control of his emotions during his loss to Usyk.
He wrote: “I wish @usykaa Continue to succeed in your quest for greatness. You are a class action champion.
“I had to think of a dark place to fight for the title! I had two fights, one with Usyk and one with my feelings and both judged better than me.
“I’ll be the first to admit, I let myself down. I acted out of pure passion and emotion and when it’s out of control it’s not great.
“I love this sport so much and I’ll be better from this point on. Be respectful.”
