Oleksandr had his say on Anthony Joshua’s post-match reaction in Saudi Arabia. On the night, the Ukrainian tennis player defeated Brit to keep his heavyweight title.
When the scorecards were read out in Usyk’s favor, Joshua personified frustration. He took control of the microphone and spoke about expectations and pressures. That’s understandable – it’s just been confirmed that the former champion has come back against his opponent for the second time in a row.
Today, Usyk released an extended interview via his YouTube channel. Addressing how his opponent reacts to defeat, the Ukrainian understands – emphasizing that underneath all is a good person.
“Yes, he was panicking and I think, no one should blame him for that. He trained, believed in something, and then lost the match for the second time.
His physical condition is pretty good, I guess, but, thank God, ours is a bit better. That could be a plausible explanation for his outbreak of verbal diarrhea. But, I believe, he is a good person.”
Talking specifically about Joshua taking the belts and removing them from the ring, Usyk was not very sympathetic.
It’s understandable given how hard he worked to get to his place, having been undefeated and undisputed in the lower weight division before entering the heavyweight division. It turns out that he is not only an elite boxer, but also an analogue.
