US Preview – Keenland 9 . Race Tips

$200,000 Raven Run Stakes – Seven Furlongs on land.

#1 Never Forget – Ridden by Robby Albrado and trained by Victoria Oliver. Twice starting back, she easily broke her maidenhood, and they immediately threw her into the Eight Belles Grade 2 stake at Churchill. She ran 3rd beaten by four lengths in a respectable performance. She’s no match for the Four Graces in that race, though, and I’d expect this to be either. There’s a lot of speed here and she’ll have a slow start so there’s a 3 chance of finishingrd
again, but that’s the ceiling here.

#2 Four Graces – Ridden by Julien Leparoux and coached by Ian Wilkes. The player has 4 wins in 6 starts, but was defeated 2 in the Eight Belles at Churchill last time. She likes to run right ahead, but she was challenged the whole race last time and gave up. A similar setup is possible here as there is quite a bit of speed in this race. She certainly shouldn’t be fired, but I’d rather find a horse that’s speeding in this race.

#3 Secondary Market – Ridden by Tyler Gaffalione and coached by Chad Brown. This is an attractive horse at a good price. In September 2019, she looked impressive breaking her maidenhood, but then she had to take a 330-day layoff. She won her first start after that layoff, and then ran in 2nd Prioress. She finished 4order in Prioress, but had a somewhat rough ride. She showed the ability to be able to sit down at speed and make a run that would be very dangerous in this race. She is one of those people to keep an eye on.

#4 Finite –
Ridden by Ricardo Santana Jr and coached by Steve Asmussen. Finite is a very impressive piece of land. During the winter, she beat the winner of the British Idiom and Preakness Stakes Swiss Skydiver. If she goes back to that race with this pitch she is the winner. With that said, all of her best races have lasted a mile or so. Last time out she completed 11order of 11, but that’s been 6 months of layoffs, so there’s a built in reason there. The layoff was due to ankle surgery, and the first race after that was really bad so I’m taking a wait and see approach.

Number 5 Venetian Port – Ridden by Manuel Franco and coached by Richie Baltas. This will be a favorite at the time of posting, and deserves it. The Venetian Harbor has lost to top artists in the world such as Gamine, Speech and Swiss Skydiver. She has beaten quite a few other horses besides the 3. This is another horse that will be prompted to go right ahead, and can set up a great speed showdown with #2 Four Graces. She is a very reasonable candidate and should absolutely be considered. In her 6 career starts, she hasn’t finished worse than 2nd
but.

#6 Reagan’s Edge – Ridden by Florent Geroux and trained by Cherie Devaux. She has been impressive so far in her short 5 racing career. Unfinished is worse than 3rd
not yet, and went back 2nd Place bets finish in graded bet races. She can’t seem to beat Franks Rockette, but the good news here is that Franks Rockette isn’t in this race. Florent Geroux should sit upright at a pace that would be ideal and would make things interesting. She should be a factor in the final leg of this race.

#7 Shape of Tonalist – Destroyed by Rafael Bejarano and trained by Saffie Joseph. Had a very promising start to his career winning 5 of the first 6 races including a pair of classified bets. Since the layoff, though, she’s been much less impressed. She went off favorites both times, and ran poorly both times. Looks like she’s on the wrong track, and I’ll get through this, but if she ever returns to form she’ll be in danger at a great cost.

#8 Fair Maiden – Ridden by Corey Lanerie and trained by Eoin Harty. She is a very interesting ranger in this race. They had high hopes for her when they put her in the Breeders’ Cup for minors, and she was just in her head. They gave her 323 days off work, and she came back and won that race as a stepping stone to this one. If she can break out well and don’t get far behind soon then she will have a huge chance at a great price, but the scary thing is she will get run away early and not be able to create the ground needed. during that time. She could be one of those with a lasting chance.

#9 Grand Cru Classe – Ridden by Martin Garcia and trained by William Mott. She certainly hasn’t done anything wrong. She has 3 starts and 3 wins. All those races were against much weaker opponents, and this is clearly a huge step up in class. Shortening the distance would be a big help, as when she won the 1/16 mile she was very tired on this stretch, but managed to win. She’ll be right near the front along with pretty much everyone else, and she’ll be wide. It will be interesting to see what trip Martin Garcia can make.

#10 Secret Keepers – Ridden by Brian Hernandez and coached by Cliff Sise. Had a great leap in class last time and did not disappoint. She ran 2nd at Torrey Pines 3rd in Del Mar. She’s a lightweight racer, and has enough zip to get a good trailing position on these front runners. She is attractive. There are many horses in this race, all trying to do the same kind of ride. It really feels like a price horse that is going to take the leap and win a big win. Could be this.

Final analysis: Although the Venetian Harbor is a big favorite, this race is a total flip. There are a lot of speed horses, and many will be lurking at the beginning. The important thing will be which horse gets the ride from the leader. There are about 5 or 6 horses that can compete for the same ride. I’ll shoot and try to beat the big favorites here.

Option:

1: # 6 Regan’s Edge
2: #5 Venetian Port
3: #10 Secret Keepers
4: # 8 Fair Maiden
