Cameron Norrie’s best run at the US Open ended in disappointment as a consecutive defeat to Andrey Rublev caused the British No. 1 to miss a place in the quarterfinals.
Norrie was looking to go on to the Wimbledon semi-finals earlier this year, but the 9th seed failed to find the usual consistency as Rublev overcame a moment late to win 6-4 6-4 6 -4.
The Russian reached the last eight in New York for the third time in his career, and will next face either Rafael Nadal or Frances Tiafoe, who will play later on Monday.
