[UPDATE] A new patch of Marvel’s Avengers released to address the PS5 crash bug

Update: 2:37 p.m. ET: The Marvel’s Avengers Twitter account has announced that an update has gone live for the PS5 to fix the crash.

Original story: Success after Marvel’s Avengers debut not excellent since its release in 2020. The bright side is that Crystal Dynamics has supported the game with solid expansions and character drops like War for Wakanda and Spiderman. Despite these quirks, a new game-breaking bug on PlayStation 5 negatively affects the rest of the player base’s enjoyment of the superhero title. The mentioned bug causes Marvel’s Avengers to crash every time it uploads and the only way to fix it is to delete your progress.

A recent tweet thread (seen above) from the official Marvel Avengers Twitter account talked about the current quick fix:

“Our team is continuing to investigate the issue that was causing problems for some PS5 players. We think we’ve identified a fix that’s currently being rolled out/tested. We hope to find a fix. More news tomorrow morning and will continue to keep you updated.

In the meantime, here’s a workaround that’s working for some players – just be aware it will reset your campaign progress: Go to Activity and Reset Campaign Progress Reassemble yours. As soon as you become young Kamala on A-Day, force close the game from the PS home screen, then you will be able to start the Avengers Initiative. “

Based on IGNcommenters have noted that the fix works and only targets the progress of the story – playable characters and purchased microtransactions remains unaffected. However, a large number of players are still frustrated at the prospect of their campaign being deleted. In fact, many PS5 players missed out on this week’s dual XP event (which ends today), and that makes all the more sense when things look especially bleak. Hopefully this bug will be patched soon.
