The ICJ, also known as the “World Court”, is the highest judicial body of the United Nations.
The Court settles legal disputes submitted to the Court by States, in accordance with international law. It also provides advisory opinions on legal questions referred to by UN competent authorities and specialized agencies.
Awards in disputes between States are binding.
The ICJ is composed of 15 judges and is headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands.
