“I say today that India has chosen this moment not to respond to Pakistan’s mischievous provocations. Our advice to delegates of Pakistan Pratik Mathur, adviser at India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, said.
Mathur exercised India’s “Right to Answer” after Pakistan’s special envoy to the UN Munir Akram mentioned Jammu and Kashmir while giving an explanation on voting on UN General Assembly resolution on Ukraine in a special emergency session.
Mathur described Pakistan’s gratuitous provocation as regrettable and stated that after two days of intense discussions, all members present at the United Nations had agreed that the only way to resolve the conflict and discord is through peace.
India has prioritized listing Pakistan-based terrorists during its tenure at UNSC in 2021-22 and five names, including Makki, have been submitted for designation under 1267 in 2022. .
In January, Abdul Rehman Makki, the deputy leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a terrorist group based in Pakistan, designated as a “global terrorist”. India has prioritized listing terrorists based in Pakistan during its tenure at UNSC 2021-22. Five names, including Makki, were submitted for designation under the year 1267 in 2022. All 14 members of the council, excluding China, initially agreed to their list. Makki was found guilty by a Pakistani counterterrorism court in 2020 of sponsoring terrorism and sentenced to prison, according to the US State Department.
