UNGA adopts resolution on ‘Education for Democracy’ co-sponsored by India | India News

NEWYORK: the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Wednesday passed a resolution titled ‘Education for Democracy‘ that reaffirms everyone’s right to education.
The India-co-sponsored resolution recognizes that “education for all” contributes to the strengthening of democracy.
“BREAKING #UNGA adopted a consensus resolution on ‘#Education for #Democracy’, co-sponsored by India. This resolution reaffirms everyone’s right to education and recognizes that #Education For All contributes to strengthening democracy,” tweeted India’s mission to the UN.
Denmark Thanks Mongolia for making this important resolution.
“#The General Assembly just passed Education for #Democracy resolution by consensus, recognizing the importance of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education – and lifelong learning opportunities for all. everyone. Thank you Mongolia for coming up with this important resolution,” said the Danish mission to the UN.
Earlier in March 2015, UN General Assembly passed a similar resolution encouraging all UN organizations to use education to promote peace, human rights and democracy.
The resolution encourages Member States to incorporate education for democracy into their educational standards. (ANI)
