Unanimous Choice of Flight in the New BC Classic Ranking


Hronis Racing LLC, Siena Farm LLC, Summer Wind Equine LLC, West Point Thoroughbreds and Woodford Racing, LLC, LLC’s undefeated Flightline, were unanimously voted #1 in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Latest Classics Ranking , weekly ranking of the top 10 horses competing for the $6 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, Kentucky, on November 5.

Flightline, the spectacular 19-long winner of the TVG Pacific Classic (G1) in Del Mar on September 3, received 29 votes in first place in Week #12 of the poll covering broadcast media. Top Thoroughbred racers, jockeys and members of the Breeders Cup Racing Secretariat/Director. Coached by John Sadler, Flightline earned an automatic spot in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic with his Pacific Classic win.

The rankings of the top 10 horses were unchanged from last week. Behind Flightline with 290 votes at the top is CHC Inc. and WinStar Farms LLC’s Life Is Good with 243 votes in second place. 4-year-old Life Is Good, winner of both the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and Whitney Stakes (G1), is scheduled to start next on October 1 Woodward Stakes (G1) at the Aqueduct. Winchell Thoroughbreds’ 3-year-old Epicenter, who won the Runhappy Travers Stakes (G1) for coach Steve Asmussen, came in third with 229 votes. Grandview Equine, Cheyenne Stable LLC, and 4-year-old Olympiad of LNJ Foxwoods, winner of Saratoga’s Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1), were in fourth place with 193 votes.

Commonwealth Thoroughbreds, LLC, WinStar Farm LLC and Zedan Racing Stables, Inc.’s Country Grammer, winner of the Dubai World Cup (G1) and second in the TVG Pacific Classic, came in fifth with 164 votes. Boat Racing, LLC, Gainesway Stable, Roadrunner Racing, and 4-year-old William Strauss’ Hot Rod Charlie, who finished third in the Whitney award for coach Doug O’Neill, remained in sixth place with 102 votes.

Gold Square LLC’s 3-year-old Cyberknife, who is second in the Travers, is in seventh place with 92 votes for trainer Brad Cox. Wertheimer and Frere’s 5-year-old Happy Saver, who finished second in Whitney, took eighth place with 67 votes.

Registration for

CHC Inc. and WinStar Farm LLC’s 4-year-old Americanrevolution, runner-up in The Jockey Club Gold Cup, was in 9th place with 55 votes. 3-year-old Taiba of Zedan Racing Stable, Inc., winner of the Santa Anita Derby (G1) and runner-up in TVG.com Haskell Stakes (G1), came in at 10th place with 36 votes.

The Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic standings will be published each week through October 11. A list of voting members can be found here.

In the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Ranking, each voter ranks horses according to the 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 system in descending order.
