Ukrainian army opens Vampire Missile Artillery System

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun to equip the recently received RM-70 Vampire rocket artillery system.

Ukrainian soldiers are currently using the Vampire system received from the Czech Republic, video released on social media has revealed.

The RM-70 is a 122mm multiple launch rocket system designed and manufactured by the Czech Republic. It is based on the official Tatra 813 high-throughput 8×8 chassis.

The RM-70 uses the Grad-style 122mm rocket as used in the Soviet BM-21, the world’s most popular rocket artillery system. This missile launcher can fire both projectiles and individual projectiles, mainly by indirect firing. It is designed to cover large concentrated fires (up to 3 hectares (30,000 m2) in one volt) with high-fragmentation explosive ammunition.

According to open sources, Ukraine received more than 20 RM-70 Vampire rocket systems in April 2022.
