Ukraine’s armed forces have shot down the latest Russian surveillance drone called the Merlin-VR.
Pavel Kashchuk, founder of automotive site infocar.ua and owner of the YouTube channel of the same name, posted The images show the wreckage of the Merlin-VR drone.
Merlin-VR is considered a long-lasting unmanned system designed for intelligence-gathering and support roles. Its most important feature is the hybrid powertrain.

The drone can carry a payload of up to 6.5 kg, has a flight ceiling of 5 km and has an operating time of at least 10 hours. It can be used to collect intelligence data, target artillery, assess bomb damage, relay communications and conduct electronic warfare.
According to Russian state media, the new drone was developed by the Research Institute of Modern Telecommunication Technology Smolensk.
The Merlin-VR drone was first announced in 2021 and no further information is available about it.
