UK travellers affected by French general strike as several flights and trains cancelled | UK News
The general strike in France is affecting thousands of UK travelers with dozens of flights and trains cancelled.
French workers are taking industrial action to protest President Emmanuel Macron’s plan to raise the pension age from 62 to 64.
Protesters include railway workers and air traffic controllers.
EasyJet has canceled at least 18 flights between the UK and France and British Airways at least 13 – affecting passengers flying to and from Bristol, Gatwick, Heathrow and Luton Airports.
Air France cuts four flights between Heathrow and Paris.
Eurostar has canceled 16 of its 26 scheduled trains between London St Pancras and Paris – warning passengers of France’s industrial action “could take longer” on Tuesday.
Six more services due to run between London St Pancras and Brussels have also been cancelled.
Eurostar has warned its passengers that the strike “could last beyond” March 7.
It added that “many sectors” would be disrupted, including national train services and the “availability of some [their] crew” will be affected.
Ferries are affected between Dover and Calais, as P&O Ferries has advised that “all non-essential sailings are rescheduled to another date”.
