UK may join US Army precision strike missile program
The UK could be the first international partner to join the US Army-led Precision Strike Missile program.
According to a press release from the US Army, the British Army reaffirmed those intentions in a memorandum of understanding signed on January 21 between the Commanding General’s Fire Center of Excellence and the Fort. Sill Major General Ken Kamper and Lieutenant Colonel Jamie Linsdell, representing the UK Army.
The document demonstrates the unwavering commitment between the UK and the US for Fire interoperability at the multinational corps level.

Brig. General Jonathan Swift also said the most important step for the UK was to confirm its intention to begin the process of signing a precision strike missile agreement.
Kamper agrees that the precision strike missile has “enormous capabilities. It is a product of what our Army started a few years ago with these cross-functional teams,” he said. “This could be a huge capability that we would need if we were to fight a near-peer conflict, a large-scale ground combat type scenario, so I am delighted that all you will have it too.”
The Precision Strike Missile, also known as the PrSM, will be an all-weather, ground-based precision attack guided missile fired from the M270A1 Multiple Launch Missile System (MLRS) and Missile System M142 high mobility fire (HIMARS). The baseline missile, which will be developed and fielded to hit multiple targets at a range of up to 499 km, will emphasize incorrectly positioned point and area targets. The main emphasis for the next twists will be on increasing the range, damage, and engagement of time-sensitive, moving, hard, and transient targets.
