Ubisoft, Bungie and others announce plans to save the game Stadia
Google Stadia coming soon died An unfortunate death, but several major game studios are working on plans to move user accounts, data, and even the game itself away from the dead game streaming service. These developers include Ubisoft, Bungie, and IO Interactive.
On Friday, Ubisoft support said the company is working to bring Stadia-owned games to PC through Ubisoft Connect. Bungie says it’s trying to figure out “next steps” for Stadia-based Destiny 2 players, saying it will send information when they have an “action plan.”
While Stadia will be shutting down on January 18, 2023, we’re happy to share that we’re working hard to bring the games you own on Stadia to PC through Ubisoft Connect. We’ll have more to share on the specifics and impact on Ubisoft+ subscribers at a later date.

IO posted on Twitter, saying that the studio is “looking for a way” for Stadia players to “continue your Hitman experience on other platforms.” While sentiment is good, the bottom line is that all of these announcements are statements of intent, not fully formed plans of action. It would be nice for Stadia players to continue owning their games on other platforms if possible, but for now, we’re waiting for details on how this could happen.
To all of our HITMAN fans on Google Stadia.

It’s worth noting that Google has promised full refunds on all purchases made on Stadia, which we’re sure many users appreciate. While many other services have crashed without such a move, Stadia’s demise still surprises many players, especially since Google has promised to update the service in the near future. However, the closure of Google’s own game studios in February 2021 seems to herald a slow demise of the service, which will eventually result in January 18, 2023.
