UAAP volleyball: NU trounces UST to sweep elims, book outright Finals spot
MANILA, Philippines — National University weathered the chaos in the second set to overtake the University of Santo Tomas, 25-22, 29-27, 25-17, Thursday and advance to the finals of the volleyball tournament. Women’s UAAP Season 84 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Lady Bulldogs survived a late attack in the second set by Tigresses, climbing from 18-14 to steal goal and break UST’s resolve.
It was NU’s 14th straight win and a win that secured it a spot in the best three championship series. It also switched the format to a ladder system for the next three teams.

The Tigers finished the qualifying round in third place with a 9-5 record. They will face in the first round against either Adamson or Ateneo depending on Thursday’s late game.
La Salle, despite losing to Adamson earlier, was placed in the second round with a two-beat bonus after finishing qualifying with a 10-4 second card.
