UAAP: Kai Ballungay stars as Ateneo gets back on track with win over Adamson

MANILA, Philippines – Kai Ballungay grabbed a career-high 21 points as Ateneo vented his anger at Adamson, 76-55, to reclaim his victory in the UAAP Season 85 men’s basketball tournament on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Shooting at the wound of their tough extra-time 76-71 loss to defending champions University of the Philippines in extra time last Sunday, Ateneo put in a stellar performance from Ballungay.
Ballungay shot 8/10 from the field and got 4 rebounds and 2 assists to lead the Blue Eagles’ recovery.
Ateneo started his breakthrough in the third inning with a 12-0 win initiated by Dave Ildefonso to take a 21-point lead, 53-32, with 6:50 left in the period.
The Blue Eagles led to 23 after Ballungay converted from BJ Andrade’s lob 72-49, with the score remaining 3:39.
Ateneo improved the record 4-2 while letting Adamson draw a 2-4 card.
