UAAP: FEU Tamaraws still searching for first win in worst start to season
MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University got off to its worst start in the UAAP Final Four era after losing 0-5 in the Men’s Basketball Season 85.
Tamaraws, who was a finalist Four seasons ago but lost a key contributor to RJ Abarrientos, still can’t find an end to their winless start after relegation to La Salle, 87-70, on Saturday.
Before today, their lackluster opening game of the season came in 2006 when they drew 0-4, a year after losing to then key player, Arwind Santos.
Tamaraws are currently in eighth place, just behind the University of Santo Tomas, who hold 1-3 cards.
The current state of the FEU is a bit shocking, considering Tamaraws as the finalist of this year’s Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup, where they lost to the champion National University.
On the other hand, Bulldogs in the top of the leaderboard with a 3-1 win-loss record.
LJ Gonzales led the FEU’s most recent attempt to win with a nearly double of 16 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.
Bryan Sajonia has contributed to Tamaraws’ career with 15 goals, 5 rebounds but turned to clear the ball 4 times.
Coach Olsen Racela and his players could close on Wednesday when they face similarly struggling tigers at the Mall of Asia Arena.
