UAAP: Eya Laure powers streaking UST past UP
MANILA, Philippines — The University of Santo Tomas extended its winning streak to four after returning to the University of the Philippines, 25-20, 18-25, 26-24, 25-23, Saturday in the volleyball tournament. Women’s UAAP Season 84 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Eya Laure made three direct offenses during the match but nailed it in time to secure a seventh victory for the Tigers in nine outings.
UST’s top tennis player finished with 25 points to help the Tigresses settle their fifth loss to the Lady Maroons in nine matches.
UST took hold of five match points before starting to blow it up one after another, threatening to reverse the game exactly as it had before.
In the third half, Lady Maroons took a 24-21 lead before Laure unleashed a sharp angled attack and then the UST strikers used two straight blocks to extend the set.
An UP violation and another Laure hit secured that win for the Tigers, which have been riding on that momentum ever since.
