U.S., England tie World Cup match in Qatar, 0-0 : NPR

The United States men’s team drew England in a goalless World Cup match on Friday.

Considering the British team is one of the favorites to win the entire tournament, it was an impressive performance by Team USA, who debuted one of the Youngest World Cup Team Ever returned this year after failing to qualify for the tournament in 2018.

Despite England’s superior World Cup record, the United States men’s team has never lost to England in the tournament. However, England missed their chance at redemption in this match, following the team’s famously nasty loss to the Americans. 1950.

The United States, now with two points after two draws, is in third place behind Britain and Iran, both with four points. He held the draw thanks to a 6-2 victory over the Iranians in the team’s first match.

“We’re proud but our job isn’t done yet,” USA coach Gregg Berhalter said in a post-match interview on Fox. “We have to win on Tuesday. We know five points will get us in. We have to focus on five points.”
