Tyson Fury Calls on David Price and David Haye for Stadium Fights
Tyson Fury has called for two British boxers to retire and face him after fights that never came to fruition when they were at their peak.
The ‘King of Gypsy’ has looked back on unprecedented matches and announced that he will still face both David Haye and David Price, even though the pair have hung up their gloves.
It was in the early 2010s that the Liverpool man was rumored to take on Tyson Fury. Price, then the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion, had previously beaten Fury in the amateur weight category. Nothing materialized although negotiations are progressing.
For Haye, the 2013 war was signed, stamped, and held a press conference. It will either be a swan song for the older Haye or pass the torch to the younger Fury. It never happened though, like The smaller man was injured during the fencing and retreated.
Talk to IFL TV’s RAW podcast‘The Gypsy King ponders whether the matches are sold out for the time being.
“I wonder if the stadium would still be sold out if me and old man David Price fought. Whether he’s retired, Old Trafford or Anfield, I think we sold it for the WBC World Heavyweight title. Or even if the WBC doesn’t sanction it, we could do it for the UK’s North West title.
“The rivalry has been going on for so long and he is the only Englishman who has ever beaten me, amateur or professional. I think it will sell out. And I also think that a fight with a toe-breaker would make a stadium sell out. Do you think me and him [David Haye] Will it still sell out?”
Fury goes on to name alongside Anthony Joshua as his biggest domestic rival, and calls Price or Haye to practice and near retirement for one last dance.
“There are still three major wars in this country for me. Even though they don’t work or anything. David Price, David Haye Anthony Joshua. Three… I know you’re still out there and I know you’re still in the gym.”
“I still think three of those games make a stadium sold out, and I really mean it. It’s all about ‘what if?’ right?”
Of course, fans will hope the fight with Anthony Joshua actually happens and doesn’t fall into the same situation as Haye and Price.
Despite digging into the archives, Fury has a very real battle in front of him targeted for early 2023. He signed on to face another heavyweight belt holder, Oleksandr Usyk, for the undisputed title.
