Ouija board two-time grass champion mare, died on 29 November in England at the age of 21.
Sired by cross nose and get out Selection Committee , by Welsh Pageant (FR), Ouija Board was the winner of 10 races, nine of which were stakes and earned $6,312,552. She won the 2006 Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T) and the 2004 VO5 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T). She finished second in the 2005 race.
In addition to the two Eclipse Awards, the Ouija Board was also named the 2004 European Champion of the Year, European Horse of the Year in 2004 and 2006, and the Senior European Horse Champion in 2006.
Lord Derby, who owns and breeds the Ouija Board through the Stanley Estate and Stud, told Thoroughbred Daily News: “In our wildest dreams, we never imagined we could breed one. the horse will break world records and inspire so many people so many happy memories she is simply the best and always has the best temperament She loves to be hugged and dressed up mint polo every time we go for a walk around the school We are so lucky to have her in our lives because she has brought us so much joy The joy and joy she has brought us me on a four-year journey around the world that will give us happy memories forever.”
Coached by Ed Dunlop, Ouija Board set a 10-3-5 record in 22 starts. In addition to her successes at the Breeders’ Cup, she has competed in a number of other Group 1 races. At age 3, she won Darley Irish Oaks in 2004 and Vodafone Epsom Oaks in 2004, ending that year with her first Breeders’ Cup win. The following year, at the age of 5, she won the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase. In her final racing year, Ouija Board won a Prince of Wales Share and a Vodafone Nassau Share before adding another Breeders’ Cup title to her resume.
Peter Stanley, brother of Lord Derby, who is also Stud’s manager, told TDN: “It has been a privilege to be associated with such an extraordinary and remarkable person. Even in wild dreams. the wildest, one wouldn’t even dare to dream of someone as filthy as the Ouija board.”
The black or brown horse has five ponies, all of which are winners. The most successful is Australia , by Galileo. Australia, multi-group 1 winner, was 5-2-1 in eight starts for coach Aidan O’Brien, earning $3,456,504. In 2014, he won the Investec Derby, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, the Juddmonte International Stakes and the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes. Like his mare, Australia was bred by Stanley Estate and Stud. He stands at Coolmore in Ireland for €35,000.
Her other products are Aegaeusby Monsun; Filia Reginaby Galileo; border guard via dubawi ; and voodoo prince , by Kingmambo. Filia Regina, Ouija Board’s only daughter, is a foster mother at Stanley Estate and Stud.
