Two men charged with murder of footballer Cody Fisher to stand trial in July | UK News



Two men charged with the murder of soccer player Cody Fisher have been told they will appear in court in July.

Kami Carpenter, 21 years old, and Remy Gordon, 22 years old, was charged with the murder of a 23-year-old at the Crane nightclub in Birminghamjust before midnight on Boxing Day.

Gordon, of Cofton Park Drive, Birmingham, and Carpenter, without a permanent address, appeared today at Birmingham Crown Court.

Judge Paul Farrer KC ordered the trial of the case to begin on July 3.

He also scheduled a guilty plea hearing and is set for trial on March 17.

Gordon and Carpenter are both in custody.

Mr. Fisher, 23 years old, used to play for Stratford Town FC, is stabbed to death on the dance floor of the Crane nightclub in Digbeth just before 11:45 p.m. on Gift Day.

The nightclub had its license suspended for 28 days on Friday following allegations from the West Midlands Police that there had been a “serious management error” at the site on the night of Mr. Fisher’s death.

Birmingham city councilors said they would consider whether to shut down the club permanently in a future full review hearing.

Police recovered a knife at the scene and an autopsy confirmed that Mr. Fisher, 23, died from the stab wound.
