Two kidnapped Americans ‘who travelled for tummy tuck’ to Mexico found dead | US News
Two of the four Americans missing after being violently kidnapped in the state of Tamaulipas, on the northern border of Mexico, have been found dead.
Two other US citizens are alive, the state governor said on Tuesday.
One of the survivors was injured but the other was unharmed.
The FBI said on Sunday it was Search with Mexican authorities for missing Americanswho was kidnapped on Friday.
They were traveling in groups from South Carolina so one of them could get a tummy tuck by Dr. Matamoros, a relative said Monday.
Soon after arriving in Mexico, they were caught up in a shootout between two rival drug cartels.
One video shows the group being loaded into the back of a pickup truck by gunmen.
Officials said a Mexican woman was killed in the gunfight.
Matamoros is located just south of Brownsville, Texas.
The kidnapping illustrates the horrors unfolding in the city, which is dominated by factions of the powerful Gulf drug cartel, who often fight each other.
Thousands of Mexicans have gone missing in Tamaulipas state alone amid the violence.

On Monday, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador told reporters: “These are people from the United States, and the information we have is that they crossed the border to buy drugs in Mexico and had a confrontation between the groups and they were detained.
“It’s worked out. I believe it will. I expect it, I hope so,” he continued.
The White House said US President Joe Biden was aware of the “unacceptable” kidnapping, adding it was “ready to provide all appropriate consular assistance and US law enforcement.” is in contact with Mexican law enforcement.”
