Two Emmys Tackles Oceanport – BloodHorse

With a team of horses nearby at Delaware Parkand need a race to win 1st grade Two Emmys Coach Mac Robertson thinks he’s found the perfect spot by being able to easily deliver for $100,000 Oceanport Stakes Sunday at Monmouth Park.

The 1/16-mile grass run for newborns 3 and up was a bit more difficult than he expected.

“There were a couple of horses there that ran very well last time and ran very well in Monmouth Park,” said Robertson. “I’m optimistic about our chances. But the race comes pretty tough for $100,000.”

As dangerous as some of the six could be for a chic 6-year-old, the visit to the winner’s circle still came through the Two Emmys, whose both top-level wins in Mr. D Stakes in 2021 (G1T) and a 2nd place win in the Muniz Memorial Classic Tournament on March 26 presented by Horse Racing Nation (G2T) in recognition of his merits. No other horse in the field has won a ranking race.

The two Emmys, the son of Wolfe Racing-owned English Channel and Robertson’s father Hugh Robertson, appear to be back at the top of his game with two wins this year. He has a 6-8-1 overall record from 22 careers that started with $815,083 in earnings.

Robertson, who also has a chain at Canterbury Park. “There are good 8-year-old English Channels running. So he’s still going strong.”

Two Emmys took 9 weeks off work to win Outbound Ike Stakes June 25 at Hawthorne Racecourse. Then came a seventh place finish in Elkhorn Stakes (G2T) at Keeneland when Robertson said the Two Emmys suffered a heat stroke.

“He’s fine, but he got heatstroke at Keeneland and that’s the reason for the break,” said Robertson. “I thought he was back and running a great race at Hawthorne.”

The two Emmys, who often lead or are close to the lead, were on the fast track to win that day at Hawthorne. This came as no surprise to Robertson, who took over most of his father’s horses while his father spent time at home in Nebraska.

“I think he’s going to be placed wherever horse racing players want to put him,” he said. “He doesn’t have to be at the front. At the Fair Grounds, a couple of times he went off track.

“Some of the longer races go in 51 seconds for the half so of course he’s in the lead. He’s a fast horse. But I don’t think he needs to be in the lead because he’s shown him. can pass horses in stretch.”

Field Sunday includes trained Pat McBurney Mohs who was not on the board in his last start in the United Nations Stakes (G1T), rapid improvement Winfromwithin and Chad Brown trained Kuramata .

Robertson called the Two Emmys, who were singled out at Keeneland’s much-anticipated September 2017 sale for just $4,500, “a hickory horse.”

“You know what you’ll get when the gate opens,” he said.

Delaware Parks regular Carol Cedeno will come to ride from column 3 in a field number seven.
