Twitter tests ‘share to WhatsApp’ button in India
‘Share to WhatsApp’ replaces the current share button, located below the tweet but works the same. So the icon is the only thing that gets changed and the functionality stays the same. So you get the same sharing options – direct message, ‘copy link for tweet’, ’embed tweet’, ‘bookmark’ or ‘share it with other platforms, including including WhatsApp.

Twitter shared the development via its handle for India, @TwitterIndia, saying, “some of you may see the Share WhatsApp icon and if you do, let us know what you think” , so the test seems to be limited to a select number of users . Also, the WhatsApp share icon seems to be limited to the Android app, as reported by some users on the microblogging platform.
“Starting today, we’re launching a new test exclusively in India – an important market for us. We’re replacing the share icon on Tweets with the WhatsApp icon for the most part. people use Twitter on Android in the country, so sharing their favorite or notable Tweets is easy even beyond Twitter, making the experience more open, accessible and inclusive for them , ” Shirish Andsharedirector and head of product, Twitter India.
There’s no word on whether or when the new ‘share to WhatsApp’ button will appear for every Twitter user. Or if the feature will be made available outside of India However, as the feature is still in beta, the company may decide to remove it at any time.
