Patton Oswalt has a crash course in Canceling Culture, And the worst may not be over yet.
Oswalt, 52, shared a snap of himself with longtime comedian Dave Chappelle on social media last week. The two recently took part in a comedy show together, and the “Goldbergs” narrator happily shared a memory of the moment.
The post has garnered more than 62,000 “likes” but not everyone is happy.
The snapshot sparked an outcry from select progressives who did not want to pardon Chappelle over the material they deemed “throughout”. Chappelle constantly tells jokes associated with the transgender community, alternating them with empathy for that demographic and tie in with specific comic book adaptations.
Oswalt, caught in the crossfire having woken up and not wanting to resolutely defend a friend, followed the image with an apology – slash – explanation for Dig yourself out of the social media hole.
It probably won’t stop the digital outflow. Here’s why:
Some conservative Twitter users dug through his older material, as progressives do regularly to defeat their ideological enemies, and found some obvious bits that would get Oswalt dropped. today.

Comedian Tim Dillon partially defends Oswalt for the second clip, because he’s portraying the character and not speaking like himself.
However, that kind of nuance is often overlooked by the Cancel Culture crowd. Nuance is rarely accepted by those willing to shame, punish, or cancel outright.
NOTE: Dillon suggested that the canceled comic Shane Gillis was also the character, as he committed a number of racial attacks against Asians, which resulted in his removal from “Saturday Night Live”. This reporter has not independently confirmed that is the case.
Other Twitters users scolded Oswalt who used to compare Antifa for soldiers storming the beaches of Normandy, for betraying a friend.

Will Oswalt’s old materials spark a new awakening fire? It is not clear. He’s a built-in forward who holds all the “right” positions, so that might provide him with enough protection. Or, his hug to Chappelle may have stripped him of that cultural immunity, and he’ll soon apologize again.
