The New York Post Office reported that Chris took the stage at a show and mentioned watching liberate, release, free—a film in which Will Smith plays a slave—for the sole purpose of “watching[ing] he was whipped.
“The other day, I watched liberate, release, free just so I can watch him get whipped.
According to The Wall Street JournalChris also mentioned his and Will’s respective film roles to acknowledge the physical difference between the two.
“What everyone wants to know… does it hurt? Damn, it hurts. He played Muhammad Ali! I played Pookie [In New Jack City]. Even in the animated movies I’m a Zebra, he’s a king shark.
He also addressed Will’s musical career by adding, “I was hit so hard, I heard ‘Summertime’ in my ears.”
This sentiment was further honed through additional comments reported by CNN.
“Will Smith is a big guy. I’m not. Will Smith goes shirtless in his movies. If you see me in a movie having open-heart surgery, I’ll wear a sweater.”

People acting like Chris Rock haven’t engaged in this kind of nonsense in the last decade.
Why do people act as if the words leading up to “The Slap” were the first instance of something as bad as this and not the last straw for Smith? https://t.co/CpIEMPXMEP

In addition to criticizing Chris’ remarks, critics also took the opportunity to rekindle a questionable moment in the past involving Rock and some white comedians.

Since Chris Rock is trending, watch him let Louis CK and Ricky Gervais mock black people and use the n-word.
Jerry Seinfeld was the only one who said stop.

However, not everyone objected to Chris Rock speaking about the “Slapgate” incident, like
People who tell Chris Rock to move on from something that happened to HIM seem to me to be a myth. I understand that you all love Will Smith, but Will actually, like in real life, slapped him. He can talk about the damn thing as long as he wants. It happened to HIM, not all of you.
