Twitch creators can share their banned users list

is rolling out a new safety option for streamers. They’ll be able to share the list of users they’ve banned with other creators. Twitch suggests that the tool can help deter mass harassers, especially those targeting creators who are members of socially marginalized communities. The Prohibited Information functionality builds on the Twitch Suspicious User Control system that launched in December.

To share a list of banned users with another streamer, a creator will need to send them a request from the Shared bans section of moderation settings. When you request ban information from another streamer and they accept, you share the same information from your channel with them. From the start, creators can have up to 30 of these connections.

You can set a default action for how to handle flagged users that another channel has banned. Those users can be tracked, meaning they can post in your chat, but all their messages will be flagged for review by you and your moderators. By default, there is an option to restrict users from being flagged – their chat messages will only be visible to a streamer and their mod.

Otherwise, streamers can ban these flagged users or mark them as trusted so they can post chat messages without any restrictions. In any case, the first time a flagged user posts in your chat, their message will be outlined in red and you can see which channel banned them.

A Twitch spokesperson said the platform is “excited about this tool as it is the first step in empowering not only individual streamers to make personalized moderation decisions, but also for the whole community.” They added that, “while Shared Prohibited Information is just the latest customizable tool in the arsenal we offer creators, it adds an extra level of scalability.” innovation by expanding the impact of individuals’ moderation decisions and ultimately helping community members help each other – which they have naturally done in countless ways in similar environments. unique Twitch collaboration, every day.”

Similar efforts to weed out the bad guys have popped up on other platforms. Twitter, for example, allows users to share a list of accounts they have blocked, but this feature . Third-party services available, however,

Twitch announced Prohibited Sharing of Information at TwitchCon Amsterdam last weekend. The company also says it will give creators more control over who can attack them. A raid involving a creator all their viewers go to another channel when they end their stream. However, the feature has been .
