Tuesday’s Oaks Top Hope Heads To First Irish 1000 Guineas | Racing news

Third is of course to win Ireland’s 1,000 Guineas before heading to Cazoo Oaks.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained girl finished third in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on the third outing of her career.

As Minding’s sister, she has a strong Classical pedigree and O’Brien will give her every opportunity to add her own name to the prestigious list.

Along with Ryan Moore on the Tenebrism show at Newmarket, she was driven by Frankie Dettori, who has collaborated with a number of major winners for O’Brien in recent years.

“The first thing Frankie said when he got her after Newmarket was Irish Guineas. We let her stay and we’ll see after that. She wasn’t a three-year-old until the first week in June, so what she’s doing is O’Brien said.

“Looking at her in Guineas, you’d say she’s definitely going for a mile and a half and is crying her way up on the trip. She’s still just a baby, so we’re looking at it now. go to Irish Guineas with her and then we’ll go to Oaks, just like her sister did (Minding).

“We’ve done a lot with the fillings. They fit, are ready and qualified, so we’re happy they got there.

“Some years there isn’t much of a gap between the Guineas (Ireland) and Epsom, but when there’s two weeks you’ll have a chance to do it if they’ve run a week or two ahead.”

O’Brien won with all five runners he sent to Chester last week, including a slight surprise winner in Cheshire Oaks, Thoughts Of June.

“You wouldn’t run Thoughts Of June more than a mile because she’s a mile and a half long,” says O’Brien.

“I sent her to see Chester to see how she would handle on such a track, and really she was probably too big for Chester. She was close to 17 hands, but she was very good detour and Ryan gave her a great ride. The plan at the moment is to go to Epsom.”

Others in the mix for Epsom include the recently listed Winners Concert Hall and Musidora’s The Algarve.

O’Brien added: “We’ve got a third, the Concert Hall is a very strong place to be, and The Algarve, who also goes to Musidora first.”
