Liz Truss has given a government job to an ally of Rishi Sunak in a move that appears to signal her intention to bridge divisions within the Tory party.
Prime Minister appoints Greg Hands as Minister of International Trade, replacing Conor Burns, who was fired from his position following a misconduct complaint.
The selection of Mr Hands, who backs her opponent in the Conservative leadership race, is a move that will be seen by many as an offer of peace to critics who have accused Ms. Surround yourself with allies.
It happened when Cabinet Minister Nadhim Zahawi warned Tory staunch MPs that “dither or delay will end in failure”.
The Mr Hands choice was especially welcomed by Sunak supporter Grant Shapps, who is rumored to be watching the party’s unrest behind the scenes.
“No one is more experienced and knowledgeable than @GregHands on the trade,” he tweeted.
“A welcome addition back to government @trussliz.”

A government source said: “Greg is one of Rishi’s highest supporters.
“This is a very clear signal from the Prime Minister that she wants to unify the party and bring people back together.
“Greg is a strong supporter of the Prime Minister’s economic plan, he is competent and well-liked across the party.”
Mr Hands said it was “a great honor and privilege” to be part of the government.

With MPs returning to parliament on Monday for the first sustained period since the Queen’s death last month, Ms Truss will urge MPs to unite, it is understood.
Now, she’s tasked with winning over colleagues spooked by the impact of the seismic small budget that was squeezed before the break, and then the humiliating abuse tax.
