Triple winner of the American Theorem leads Bing Crosby

Whatever your style choice, you’ll probably find something you like in Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) July 30 at Del Mar. Before the Triple Bend, American Theorem’s best bet attempt was his first, a second in 2019 American Pharoah Stakes (G1) at 1/16 mile when a kid 2 age. He finished six races behind the winner Eight Rings . In Triple Bend, the American Theorem went from speed to beat Principe Carlo with a short nose.

Librado Barocio trains California-born Principe Carlo, a 6-year-old son of Noisy , for David A. Bernsen, Barocio Mia Familia Stability Racing, and Rockingham Ranch. Barocio claimed Principe Carlo for $20,000 at Santa Anita in late 2020 and won the 2021 Cary Grant Stakes at Del Mar with him.

Crosby will be the first start with Bernsen and Rockingham in the Principio Carlo collaboration (post 5, jockey Victor Espinoza). Those two owners have collaborated on Roy HOLY A two-time runner-up at Crosby, but has won two editions of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint and is a two-time Eclipse Award-winning male sprinter.

Peter Miller coached Roy H, and he conditioned Get Her Number to owner Gary Barber. Get Her Number won the 2020 edition of American Pharoah but was then eliminated in the stakes competition until his third in Triple Bend. Following up on that effort, the 4-year-old, half-Kentucky son of Dialed transport to Churchill Downs and won a seven-times option claimant’s long bonus on June 25 by one neck. Ramon Vazquez is set to ride Get Her Number from post 10.

Miller and Barber belong to the ownership group Missile CZ , an 8-year-old boy trained by Miller, who finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint in 2020 and third in the Crosby in 2021. Miller nominated CZ Rocket for Crosby this year but instead contested elected in the race for the allowance option on July 23 in Del Mar. CZ Rocket won the race which lasted 6 1/2.

Diamond is sorry finished third against CZ Rocket in his July 23 race, his first in California, and was returned to Crosby (Ryan Curatolo to go from post 8). Phil Lebherz, Alan Klein and Rusty Brown own Letsgetlucky (Tyler Baze, post 7). Lebherz and Klein race Crosby 2010 winner Tiger laughs , and all three crossbred and equine athletes, now stand in California. The three of them also race My Cinema Letsgetlucky’s dam, is a 4-year-old son of Munnings .

Letsgetlucky still hasn’t won the bet, but came in second with Jackie’s Warrior in Earl’s Fleet Sprint Handicap (G3) at Oaklawn Parkhit 3/4 length.

Desmond Doss of California (Florent Geroux, post 1) is making his first grading attempt in Crosby. Racing for the very successful California owner/raider Nick Alexander, Desmond Doss is the son of Alexander’s stallion Grazen . Going up against California breeders, Desmond Doss won consecutive editions of Bertrando Stakes and Thor’s Echo Stakes this year.
