Transfer news: Celtic are close to reaching an agreement to sign Sead Haksabanovic with Rubin Kazan | Football news
Celtic are close to reaching an agreement with Rubin Kazan for winger Sead Haksabanovic.
The Scottish champions are one of four clubs interested in the 23-year-old Montenegrin.
Haksabanovic is training in Sweden after a loan spell with Djurgarden and he does not want to return to Kazan.
“I think we’ve been linked with a player every time I’ve done one of these things,” Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou said in a pre-match media conference on Friday.
“When and if we announce, we’ll announce. Like I said, we’re very agile, we’re looking for the right people to bring in.
“If there’s the right person and we can make a deal, then we’ll make a deal but nothing really changes on that front.”
Celtic have seven signings so far this summer, including permanent deals for Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Sky Sports News understands that Hoops is also interested in Hajduk Split defensive midfielder Jani Atanasov.
With less than two weeks left until the transfer window closes, Postecoglou insists the club will be looking for the right player.
“Our hiring this year revolves around making our roster better and stronger, compared to last year,” he said.
“If you look at the players we’ve brought in, that’s what they’ve added to our squad.
“So it’s not such a specific region, it’s more if we get a few players who can play a few positions, it will help us.”
Celtic take on Hearts at the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, looking to maintain their winning start to the season.
Postecoglou, who had Reo Hatate available from injury, said: “We have had a solid start to the season and our performance is slowly improving.
“This is a period where we don’t have a lot of games and can train a little bit more than usual.
“We’re putting a lot of work on the boys throughout the week and I think that helps our performance improve.”
Hearts head to Glasgow after the Europa League play-off first leg against FC Zurich.
Postecoglou are expecting a tough test against Robbie Neilson’s side after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Switzerland.
“You can see they’ve gotten stronger from last year’s lineup and they look a lot stronger,” he added.
“I think with Europe, I always see it as a positive experience for the players and they are still drawing, so they will have some faith from that and will give us a tough test. “
