Guard Brandon Williams led the Trail Blazer to a team-high 22 while adding 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 steal.
Trail Blazers forward Trendon Watford was named the MVP of the game, scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists and 1 block.
Jabari Walker led the Trail Blazers in rebounds with 11, adding 14 points, three steals and two assists in the win. The Trail Blazers picked Walker in the second round (No. 59) of the 2022 NBA Draft out of Colorado.
Williams and Watford both have game time for the Trail Blazers in the regular season.
Williams played 24 games for the Trail Blazers last season, starting with 16. averaged 12.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steals.
Watford started ten times for Portland last season, averaged 7.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists, played 48 games.
Despite the loss, the five Knicks players finished with doubles on Sunday.
Guard Quentin Grimes scored 19 points, with three assists, three rebounds and a steal, to lead the Knicks.
Mile McBride scored 17, Jericho Sims finished with 13, and Feron Hunt and Micah Porter each had 10 to round out the Knicks’ effort.
After a tight first half, Portland overcame the Knicks 29-16 in the second half to take a 41-30 lead at halftime.
The Trail Blazers took 14 points in the fourth quarter, and the Knicks ran late but were unable to complete the comeback. Faced with a 14-point deficit, the Knicks attempted a late return in the fourth quarter without success.
“They were running in I think late on Tuesday or Wednesday,” Watford said after the game. “We’ve stuck together and when we got back we popped and I’m just proud of all these men.
“It’s been great time, our chemistry has been together since Day One and I’m just proud of all these boys.”
