Traffic jams: Monkeys in the Arctic – ‘That’s where you went wrong’
If you are from Sheffield, there are several things you must do. You have to enjoy your cake in Henderson’s Relish. Friend have to order a liter of Jaipur on the barrel whenever you see it offered. Final, you must like the music of Arctic Monkeys.
When they first appeared at the scene, the North Pole The Monkeys are part of a new wave of Northern indie bands. Milburn, Information provider, The Wombats and Reverend & The Makersto name a few, all sing loudly and proud of their love, loss and north roots. It’s enough to make any young man want to run out, get a guitar and start a band.
That’s exactly what I did. My Band to be Is called “Stark Naked in the Snow” and we had two rehearsals, wrote a song and then decided that we were more fans than artists.
But since my musical endeavors fell apart and ignited, the arctic monkeys have gone from strength to strength. Sure enough, ‘s band debut album, Whatever people say I am, that’s what I don’t, obviously a classic, but the sound has evolved and matured with each release.
Favorite worst nightmare produce Monkeys’ best song and Humbug saw them burning oil in the middle of the night. In shining, the band became an old school rock group and Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino saw them grow into a sci-fi-inspired jazz-rock group.

And now, as we’re staring down the barrel of yet another development with seventh studio album Car, I want to celebrate my favorite Monkeys album: Suck it and watch.
Released in 2011, the band’s fourth record was written while singer-songwriter Alex Turner was beloved and lived in NYC.
It has a more spacious, surf feel than other releases of the group. And, as with all Arctic Monkey work, it’s filled with Turner’s wonderful lyrics. Phrases like “when she smiles, the sky hums a dazed lullaby“And” you look like you had breakfast at Heartbreak Hotel and sat in the back room with leaflets and documents on how to win and lose records.
But, it’s ending”That’s where you go wrong.” that has always stuck with me as the best album.
It begins with a killer, old school violence saluted to the pounding drums of Matt Helders. Turner’s honey-like voice flows through you as the track builds and builds. The song’s chorus is effortless and every element of the song has a moment to shine.
It’s a satisfying end to a phenomenal album.
