Tracey Emin has revealed she’s finally getting ‘all clear’ following her battle against bladder cancer, with an Instagram post on Tuesday.
The artist, 59, shared a photo of herself in a hospital gown getting ready for a CT scan along with a lengthy caption where she admitted she was ‘very happy’ and delighted to be alive .
She found out she had a tumor in her bladder in June 2020 and was suffering from very severe squamous cell cancer, which surgeons feared would kill her within months if it spread to her lymph nodes. her blood.

‘It doesn’t show how great and strict I am, I’m full of anxiety inside. This time because I’m happy, this time because I’m feeling well.. I’m scared to say I’m happy. But me, my life is so much better, I am stronger and clearer.

‘I’ve been sober for 27 months and every day life gets more interesting and I find myself more interested and interested in everything around me.
‘I have to be honest.. I wish I had my bladder (one that is working well and doesn’t have cancer). I don’t care about my uterus or my reproductive system.
‘But I really miss the vagina, the urethra and those little blood-filled lymph nodes that make everything tick..
‘But today I hear everything clearly.. Makes me very happy and feels good to be alive. To me there is more to it than a hole. ‘

Before her cancer surgery, Tracey said she stayed up 24 hours for her attorney to rewrite her will.
She then sent an email to 70 friends informing her of her cancer and instructing them: ‘Don’t contact me’.
She was left with a stoma bag due to ‘half my body being chopped off’ and sadly still struggles to draw.
Tracey said in April 2021: ‘I’m not painting because I’m using my willpower to survive. That’s what I’m doing. ‘

“I never realized how much I wanted to live until I thought I was going to die,” she said after learning a year ago doctors had successfully removed the entire tumor.
But that hasn’t stopped Tracey from feeling ‘very happy’, saying last year: ‘I’m doing great, I’m doing great.
‘I’m so happy and I’m enjoying every day as it comes and I’m so happy to be alive because there’s a pretty big expectation that I won’t make it through Christmas.
‘And I’m going to go to Christmas and next Christmas and one of the days after that.
‘That’s what I’m working towards, so I feel really happy and good and I just wish the world would be a better place. I wish the world would catch up with me on this. ‘
Tracey continued: ‘It could be very, very different so I’m grateful.
‘My surgeon and the team call me a miracle woman because I’m like jumping up and down again with everything.
‘Perhaps a bit too quickly at first…because I’ve been back in bed for a month. But now I’m balancing things and being more cautious.
‘I want to live forever. I wanted to do my art, I wanted more exhibitions, more things to do… and I had to think ‘I won’t do that’. I have to accept that. ‘
Tracey compared her surgery to sex reassignment surgery or childbirth. She also revealed that she once painted a picture of a melanoma before doctors discovered the tumor on her bladder.
