Top-seeded Gonzaga knocked out of NCAA Tournament by Arkansas
The No. 1 Gonzaga Bulldogs were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament after losing to the fourth-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks, 74-68, in the Round of 16 Sweet on Thursday.
This was the third NCAA tournament in a row where Gonzaga failed to win the national championship, despite securing a No. 1 seed. Last year, the Bulldogs lost in the national championship to Baylor, by 86 -70. In 2019 (2020 NCAA Tournament canceled), Gonzaga was eliminated by Texas Tech in the Elite Eight.
Gonzaga struggled offensively against Arkansas on Thursday, making just 37.5% of his goals on the field and making just five of his 21 three-point attempts. Throughout the first half, the Bulldogs went three minutes and five minutes without scoring a single point.
Arkansas was led by JD Notae, who scored 21 points with six assists, six rebounds and three steals. Jaylin Williams added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Razorbacks.
