Top Promoter Says Battle Fury “Seems Like a Money” for Anthony Joshua

American promoter Lou DiBella has spoken about the potential fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, believing it could be more of a ‘business proposition’ than anything else.

DiBella, who promotes the likes of George Kambosos Jr and Richard Commey, spoke to SecondsOut to discuss the upcoming British heavyweight belt war – specifically whether ‘AJ’ should be in the bout.

“Joshua fights no less than Usyk. He fought better than he fought [the first time.] He just lost to a better boxer. If he was going to win the fight and fight Fury, wouldn’t it be outrageous for him to lose the fight and duel Fury? No.”

“But, coming out of that fight, two losses in a row, rushing to the end of the year, to fight Fury on Fury’s schedule when you haven’t had the easiest fight and you haven’t won a fight. skirmishes – that seems like cash to me. Like you know ‘hey, this is probably my last chance to make this fight.’ And it was a big war in England. “

“I am sure there will be a large sum of money in that war in England. I’m sure it’s a fight that will surpass boxing in England. So I took it as a business proposal. “

While DiBella highlighted a number of other fights he expects Joshua to pursue – including domestic clashes with Joe Joyce and a long-awaited encounter with Deontay Wilder – he understands that fighting with Fury possibly the biggest spectacle of them all.

“I guess there’s nothing big about Fury and Joshua in the UK, and maybe everyone involved just wants to take the money while there’s still a chance, right? There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s not the fight I want to see the most.”
