Top 5 expected electric cars to debut at Delhi Auto Expo


Due to the pandemic in the last two years, the Auto expo event did not take place. All editions of Delhi Auto Show witness a flurry of new electric vehicle models and the upcoming release is also expected to introduce a lot of electric vehicles.
Here is a list of the top 5 cars we expect to be introduced at Auto Expo in January 2023.
first. Tata Altroz ​​EV
One of the most anticipated and awaited models is the Tata Altroz ​​EV. Tata introduced an all-electric variant of the premium hatchback Altroz ​​at the Geneva Motor show in 2019. The Tata Altroz ​​EV is based on the same electrified-compatible ALFA platform. The electric premium hatchback is expected to debut at the 2023 Auto Show.

The Tata Altroz ​​EV is expected to borrow many features from the already launched Nexon EV such as the same electric powertrain, PDU (Power Distribution Unit) and battery pack. The vehicle is expected to come with connected car technology that will allow you to access vehicle statistics such as remaining battery power, charge history and even locate the nearest charging stations for friend.
Tata Altroz ​​EV is expected to cost around Rs 12-15 in India.
2. Citroen C3 EV
The Citroen C3 EV was recently scouted on Indian roads.
The spy car’s front fender is camouflaged and it looks like it’s covering the charging port. The EV will be based on the ICE C3 like the side panels and design elements that look like the ICE counterpart.
However, we expect Citroen to make some noticeable cosmetic changes to set it apart from the regular model.
Speaking of powertrain and battery, it is expected to be offered with multiple battery options, one of which is the global standard 50kWh battery pack with a WLTP range of more than 350km, present in Peugeot e-208 is based on the same platform.

The EV is expected to be powered by an electric motor producing 136 hp and 260 Nm of torque. It is possible that the EV could also equip a smaller battery pack with a range of about 300km.
The current ICE C3 lacks basic features such as cruise control, rear wipers, rear wipers, manual adjustment for ORVM and many more. The electric Citroen C3 is expected to be equipped with more features than the petrol version.
All-electric is expected to hit the Indian market in April 2023 with an expected starting price of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14 lakh (at former showroom).
At launch, the EV will compete with the Tata Tiago EV and Tigor EV.
3. Hyundai IONIQ 5
Hyundai recently announced that it will bring the IONIQ 5 to the Indian market.
Built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Ioniq 5 will arrive in India via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route.

On the outside, Hyundai Ioniq 5 owns 20-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic design, LED headlights with integrated DRLs, LED taillights, flat door handles, shark fin antenna and integrated spoiler. .
The upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5 will likely be offered with two battery options – a 58 kWh battery and a 77.4 kWh battery in the Indian market. The powertrain will likely produce a maximum capacity of 305 horsepower and maximum torque of 605 Nm. Both powertrains will be available in Rear- or All-Wheel Drive configurations. The Ioniq 5 EV has a range of 481 km.
4. Hyundai Kona facelift
Another Hyundai on the list is the updated Kona EV. Launched in July 2019, the Hyundai Kona Electric is Hyundai’s first electric vehicle in India. Globally, the electric Hyundai Kona has been updated for 2020, and the model is expected to land in us in 2022.

The Hyundai Kona is expected to be equipped with a 39.2kWh battery and a 136hp motor for a 304km range or a 64kWh battery and a 204hp motor for a range of 483km.
The electric SUV is expected to cost around Rs 24-26.
5. MG Air EV
MG Motor India is working to introduce an affordable EV in the country that, according to ongoing rumors, could be called a city EV or ‘Air EV’. The mass-market electric vehicle is expected to go head-to-head with the Tiago EV in the market. The compact EV that was tracked for testing in India is, however, fully camouflaged.

That said, the upcoming MG EV is expected to be based on the Wuling Air EV, manufactured by SAIC-GM-Wuling and sold in China and Indonesia. The EV has a slightly unorthodox design, however, it remains unclear if MG will decide to launch the car without any visual changes.
