Tony Hawk Says Plan To Kill Activision For More THPS Games

Remakes of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 were planned at some point until publisher Activision pulled the plug. This news comes from Tony Hawk himself, who discussed the series with streamer andyTHPS.

According to Hawk, the “plan” was to develop remakes for THPS 3 and 4 after the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 remakes. However, that plan became complicated after Activision merged THPS1. and 2 developers Vicarious Visions into the Snowstorm.

“The truth is they’re trying to find someone to do [Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater] 3 and 4, but they didn’t really trust anyone the way they did with Vicarious, so they took offers from other studios,” Hawk said in the clip. Like, ‘What would you do with a THPS title?’ And they don’t like whatever they hear, and then it’s it. “

At the very least, it looks like THPS3 and 4 are not actively developed. As Hawk says in the clip, it was planned, but he never said it was in production. What’s more curious is that Activision is interested in taking the series in new directions. Historically, it was a bad opinion.

This news is especially heartbreaking because after a drought of skateboarding games, the excellent Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 seem to suggest that the king of action sports is back. As we said in our review, “The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise can once again have a bright future thanks to the great blast of the past.” Alas, history has proven otherwise.

But in fact, the game of skateboarding has enjoyed a renaissance in recent years. Of course, there’s Vicarious Visions’ Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater reboot. There are also OlliOlli’s World, Ice Skating City, Meetingand Skater XL.
