Tommy Fury disputes Jake Paul’s ‘excuses’ in defeat

Tommy Fury ended Jake Paul’s undefeated start as a professional boxer, winning by split decision. After the match, the loser testified that he was sick in the camp and that he injured his arm.

The 23-year-old British tennis player won the match with two out of three points, with many spectators arguing that he deserved the score more even if he was knocked out in the final round. Paul was modest about the defeat for a short time, but gave a number of reasons that could lead to a ‘disappointing’ performance.

In an interview with iFL TVFury was quick to dismiss any suggestion that Paul was sick or injured during training camp and stated that his approach to the loss would be different.

“That’s what it is. It won’t be my approach if I lose the game, I’ll say ‘fair and right, the better will win’, even if I’m sick.

I don’t believe he’s sick, because he wasn’t sick posting on social media about how great his camp was.”

“So I wouldn’t believe it, he was fairly beaten last night and that’s it. If he wanted to make excuses, he could, but it was so, he was defeated.

After a lousy performance and the first defeat of his career, Paul reassured fans that his time in the sport was far from over by announcing that he would trigger a rematch clause with Fury.

Yet another setback could mark the end of the ‘Problem Kid’ in professional ratings and the world title fight he claimed would happen seems to be what most people have named it – a pipe dream.
