TMC’s Anubrata Mondal gets 10-day CBI custody in cattle smuggling case | India News
NEW DELHI: Leader of the Trinamool Congress Anubrata Mondal on Thursday was sent to 10 days CBI in custody in connection with a livestock smuggling case.
The CBI arrested Mondal from his residence after twice ignoring his schedule before the central investigative agency for three days.
Earlier in the day, a CBI team consisting of at least eight officers and central force personnel arrived at Mondal’s residence around 10 a.m. and conducted a search operation, as part of the probe.
Mondal, TMC An official said, the prefect, was grilled in a room on the second floor of his residence. The agency said he was not cooperating in the cattle smuggling investigation.
His bodyguard Saigal Hossain was also arrested by the central agency.
Earlier this month, CBI teams raided 13 locations, including the residence of Mondal loyalist Karim Khan and his aides. Ziaul Haque at the Ilambazar and Nanoor. Another group of CBI has reached the stone merchant’s house Tulu Mandal, known to be close to TMC leadership. In addition to Rs 17 lakh and 10 mobile phones, the agency also recovered pen drives, hard disks and locker keys.
