Governor Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’s running mate in the 2024 US presidential election, played several games Crazy taxi with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over the weekend. You can watch the video on his YouTube channel.

Only about five minutes long, the video begins with Tim Walz talking about the Sega Dreamcast and giving a very brief introduction Crazy taxi. He also noted that there’s a character of him in the game that you can unlock if you’re really good. This is a reference to one modrather than something original. Walz noted that he didn’t know how to use the controls on the Xbox, but still seemed to have some muscle memory from his time on the Dreamcast. Throughout the video, he jokes with AOC and reminisces about the old Dreamcast he bought and ended up taking to the office due to his wife’s disapproval.
Here’s a clip from their Twitch stream. They also played NFL madness 25 together during transmission. At the end of the YouTube clip, Walz reminds people to vote in the upcoming election, saying that politics is for everyone to participate in and that it can be a fun thing.
Crazy taxi first launched in 1999 as an arcade game ahead of the Dreamcast port in 2000. In it, you play as a taxi driver who must make as much money as possible within a certain amount of time. Latest non-mobile version of Crazy taxi used to be Ticket price war in 2007 for PSP. However, Sega teasing a new one Crazy taxi during The Game Awards 2023, with more information about what will happen in the future.
