THQ Nordic Showcase 2024 Recap – PlayStation.Blog
Every year, the THQ Nordic team spends months creating a Digital Showcase that we think you’ll enjoy, filled with news about previously announced games and a sneak peek at what you can expect from our development team in the future.
Diversity defines what we do, and that’s never been more true than in our 2024 lineup – which includes a gorgeous hand-drawn adventure, a sequel to a mind-bending destruction racing game, the long-awaited return of a legendary action-adventure series, and much more.
Goldman’s Eternal Life
We kicked off this year’s stream with the debut of a brand new 2D platform adventure game from Weappy Studio, the developers of This Is the Police.
As Goldman, with his trusty stick in hand, you’ll explore a mysterious archipelago brought to life with meticulously crafted 2D animation, every frame filled with the passion the team has infused into the game they’ve always wanted to make.
A sense of wonder and freedom to experiment are at the core of Weappy’s design philosophy, focusing on rewarding players for their curiosity about the world and challenging but fair platforming sections. Eternal Life of Goldman urges you to explore the further reaches of the archipelago, each new ability and artifact you find adding a new dimension to your gameplay.
We look forward to telling you more later this year – for now, stay tuned and add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be among the first to receive the update.
Disney Epic Mickey: Re-brushed
It’s almost time to pick up your paintbrush and decide the fate of the Wasteland! When Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed launches on September 24, the power to shape the world with paint and thinner will be in your hands.
Take control of Mickey Mouse in this 3D action game, exploring a land filled with beloved characters to meet and secrets to discover, including classic side-scrolling levels inspired by Mickey Mouse’s history.
Rebuilt from the ground up by the Purple Lamp team and available for the first time on PS5 and PS4, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a must-have for Disney fans of all ages, whether this is their first adventure into the Wasteland or a trip down memory lane.
Festival of Destruction 2
Create your dream car, show it off online, and smash it to pieces in a series of ultimate demolition events. Whether it’s racing to the finish line first, blasting through obstacles, or crushing your opponents in a free-for-all demolition derby, Wreckfest 2 is all about letting loose in the ultimate playground of vehicular carnage.
The PS5 hardware gave the Bugbear Entertainment team the freedom to simulate collision fidelity like never before, with every frame-crushing impact detected in real-time.
At the end of each event, your battered car will tell a unique story of paint swaps, steel bending, and on-track grudge battles.
Titan II Mission
Last year, we announced Titan Quest II with a teaser trailer that launched us into a battle against the rogue goddess Nemesis and her hordes. Millions of views and thousands of comments later, we’re ready to show you more of the rich, lush world the Grimlore Games team has been building.
In our first gameplay trailer, you can get your first glimpse of the adventures that await you in the sun-drenched landscapes of Ancient Greece, and the godlike powers you’ll gain as you take on the role of the greatest heroes of legend. The team is crafting an experience that encourages you to rise to the challenge, with epic battles against mythical beasts that reward players with unique loot that changes the way you play.
This is your story to tell, with deep customization options – from your hero’s appearance, to the combination of a wide range of modifiable skills and equipment loadouts. Whether you choose to embark on this adventure alone or with friends, Titan Quest II will take you on an unforgettable journey through a land unlike any other in the ARPG genre.
Gothic Remake 1
Since we announced the development of Gothic 1 Remake in 2020, the overwhelming support from Gothic fans around the world, as well as the RPG community at large, has been overwhelming. Every positive comment, every cry of “For Gomez!”, has strengthened the team at Alkimia Interactive as they work to deliver a game that is both a faithful love letter to the Gothic fan community and a welcoming experience full of surprises and fresh discoveries for newcomers.
In today’s trailer, we’ll dive into how Alkimia creates a world that’s a living thing in itself, with thriving ecosystems and powerful factions competing for dominance – a world that seemingly exists beyond the player’s control, but is ripe to be shaped by your decisions.
The visuals and gameplay have also been completely rebuilt to meet modern standards, with more rewarding progression, more impactful combat, and diverse NPC activities and interactions.
Whether you join the ore-rich Old Camp with the King, the New Camp with plans to destroy the magical barrier surrounding the Valley of Mines, or the Sleeping Brotherhood putting their faith in a mysterious new god – the dark world of Gothic 1 Remake will soon be yours to explore.
Hunter’s Path: Lintukoto Reserve
For the second year in a row, we’re releasing DLC for Way of the Hunter on the same day as Digital Showcase.
While last year we hunted the lush green grasslands of Africa, today’s release will let you explore a beautifully recreated Scandinavian landscape with lynx, arctic foxes, and many other unique wildlife, all with their own realistic behaviors.
Wander through vast magical forests that sparkle in the light rain, rolling meadows teeming with life and snow-capped hills that have inspired folk tales since time immemorial. With every peaceful moment spent in this fictional Scandinavian wilderness, meticulously sculpted by the team at Nine Rocks Games, your connection with your surroundings will grow.
Way of the Hunter: Lintukoto Reserve is now available on PS5.
A new story from Tarsier Studios
From the creators of Little Nightmares I & II, a whole new vision, unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
Find out more at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Tuesday, August 20, 11am PT/8pm CEST.
Of course, the THQ Nordic Digital Show wouldn’t be complete without one more thing to keep you interested as we wrap up the livestream…
The Future of Darksiders
The ominous rumble of an incredibly old room. Hot ash hung in the air, spewing from the bubbling lava.
Three giant stone heads, suddenly burst into flames. The Charred Council awoke and shouted a single word in unison: Horseman.
We’ll have more news to share about what’s coming in the Darksiders world soon, but for now, know this… The Four Horsemen will be back.
That’s it for THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2024! On behalf of everyone at THQ Nordic, as well as our development partners around the world – thank you so much for joining us. We look forward to sharing more about each of these titles in the near future and seeing you back in our digital world soon.
