This is your dream two-car garage, worth $300,000
Huh!
My real world has two garages, but only one car, a bunch of bicycles, and some yard equipment.
My ideal real-world two-car garage right now would be essentially a large car and a small car on a teacher budget. When I’m feeling adventurous, this will be like a Sequoia and a Miata. When I’m feeling frugal, this will be a pickup truck and a Nissan Leaf. Deal hunting everywhere.
My $300,000 garage is surprisingly complex, most of what I really want isn’t expensive enough to fill $300,000. But, since this is for science, I’ll give it a try. Here are some ideas:
Maximum comfort:
Lexus LS 500h & Range Rover Autobiography Long Wheelbase
Adventure Time:
Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid & 4×4 Sprinter Spotsmobile Convertible
Eco speed:
Rivian RS1 and Porsche Taycan
Dino Speed:
Raptor R & Ferrari FF GT AWD
Old school fun:
1956 Chevy Nomad Restomod & 63 Vette Splitback
Hipster Cred:
Mint Brown Manual Volvo Wagon w / V8 Engine Swap a la Paul Newman & VW Vanagon Westfalia Synchro w / Subie Swap from a STI.
What I would probably do:
Convert 4×4 Sportsmobile & Rav4 Prime
In each case, let’s assume I’m selecting them to their full potential and/or sourcing high quality parts/labor.
Of course, what I really want to do is buy anything I can literally turn around and sell it immediately for $300,000. Then pay off the house, buy a basic Sienna Hybrid with a roof rack, a titanium mountain bike, a decent used Miata, a built steel touring bike hand-made, a canoe, maybe a bunch of weird/fun cheap bikes and a nice dinner. .
Weirdisgood went a different route: Instead of choosing two cars to cover every base, they listed two option for each need. After all, why not double down on your automotive tastes?
