This is why you should stop using cheap screwdrivers

“Why should I spend money on expensive screwdrivers when the cheap ones look the same? Aren’t all screwdrivers the same?”
Simply put, no, they’re not the same thing and I have a prime example of why it’s important to have the right tools, especially if you’re repairing other people’s devices.

Hold presser foot on DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone are some really small screws. Not only are they tiny, but they’re also glued in place. thread locking compound to prevent the vibrating screws from loosening and the propellers flying out of flight – which could have disastrous consequences for the drone.
And these snails are notorious.
Drone groups and forums are filled with sad stories of people chewing on these screws when trying to remove them. And once they’re damaged, getting rid of them becomes even more of a daunting project.

It seems that even the screwdriver supplied with the drone is not up to the job.
I have one Mini Drone 3 Proand it needs changing props. So I decided to see how easy it was to take them off — or how easy it was to mess them up.

First, I tried the supplied screwdriver and as I suspected, it didn’t fit at all.

Worse still, the screwdriver actually damaged the screw, chipping some metal, which is not good at all!

I won’t use that screwdriver again, that’s for sure.
Luckily, I had a few good screwdrivers. For example, I had this amazing thing Lifegoo mini screwdriver. This screwdriver fits perfectly with small propeller screws!

The difference in quality can be easily seen between the screwdriver that DJI ships with the drone and the Lifegoo screwdriver. The supplied screwdriver tip is rough and poorly machined.
But this Lifegoo screwdriver is so good that it had no problem removing the fastener that I damaged with the supplied screwdriver.

I’ve also tried all of my favorite screwdriver sets — iFixit Pro Technology Toolkit — and as I expected, the kit also includes a screwdriver that fits perfectly. This set has been heavily used over the past few years and is still like new.
The iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit is another great set of tools, with screwdrivers you can count on Adrian Kingsley-Hughes/ZDNET
If you’re repairing other people’s devices, you really need a good screwdriver. You can’t do more damage trying to fix something. I had to follow in the footsteps of someone who had previously used shoddy tools, and the extra time it took to get the job done was astounding.

For example, I spent 30 minutes removing a small screw that holds the motherboard in place in an iPhone that was previously damaged by a “repairer” who returned the iPhone to the owner in poor condition. worse than the original. on to start with.
This kind of thing is unacceptable.
Save yourself a lot of headaches — and confusion — and get yourself decent tools.
